Footy Show front-man and NRL star, Matthew Johns, spoke exclusively to A Current Affair last night about his alleged involvement in a group sex scandal that has left a girl suicidal.

In his one-on-one with veteran TV journo babe Tracey Grimshaw, Johns made great TV viewing with his emotional denial of his participation with sex with a 19-year-old girl following a Cronulla pre-season match in Christchurch in 2002.

Trish Johns, Johns' scorching wife, condemned the group sex scandal saying she was "disgusted", stating: "I certainly wouldn't like it to be my daughter."

The incident, which occurred seven years ago, resurfaced in a report on ABC's Four Corners on Monday night and shortly after that aired, Johns was stood down from the Footy Show indefinitely. Last night, Johns declared the girl involved was a "willing participant" and encouraged players to have sex with her.

"At no point did she object at any stage to what was going on," Johns emotionally said. "Seven years ago, when the incident went on, the woman was a willing participant. It's something I regret and all parties, including her, as well.

"I've never blamed anyone else in this situation but myself. I take full responsibility for the predicament that I find myself in."

seriously who cares... he tuned some bitty. so? so many people have cheated on their partners n whatever, but just cause hes on tele and in the NRL scene it becomes a 'scandal.' screw the dumb bitch, she asked for it, literally. n who cares if she was pissed, he probably was too, they were in a bloody pub. why is it the blokes fault if the girl is pissed when hes probably pissed too? and she doesnt have the nerve to show her face? yeah sick, ruin his life but hide yourself...

since fucking when is it illegal for any man to have group sex? if she gave consent at the time then how dare she come along now and potentially ruin mat john's marriage, along with his career and respect amongst australians. fair enough, shit effort by johnsy to cheat on his missus, but he shouldent be treated any differently by channel 9 or anything like that. that bitch should lose her job, and hopefully her life.

first of all i think this girl was totally stupid to get involved with any of the players, ive gotta say she acted like a total slut, if these kinds of women would stop hanging around acting like whores then complaining when it gets out of hand then this kind of thing wouldnt happen , she gives women a bad name, that said though if she didnt consent then they should be charged with rape. also i thought matthew johns was better than that but obviously not, he is a total pig and should be very ashamed for what he has done and for treating his wife like that, i have zero respect for him now, i think they way these players conduct themselves is disgusting . they act like animals, and have no respect for women, absolutely disgusting behaviour.
