The king has finally spoken and the NBA’s reigning two-time MVP has finally put an end to months of rumours and gossip and told the world where he’ll be playing ball next season.
The greatest player since Michael Jordan will be off to the Miami heat, signing a contract that could be worth up to a billion dollars.
It seemed every team out there wanted a slice of Lebron’s greatness, with even US President Barack Obama openly rooting for his hometown Bulls. Part owner of the New Jersey Nets, Jay-Z, had tried to get Lebron, with another bid coming form the New York Knicks.
The move to Miami will see James combine with two other superstars Wade and Bosh. The three were drafted to the NBA in the same year (as pics 1, 4 and 5). In 2006 James, Bosh and Wade all signed matching contracts to make sure they were all unrestricted free agents at the same time.
All three won gold medals together at the Beijing Olympics, and will now call Miami home. Wade and Bosh also agreed to sign for less money so the Heat would be able to pay for Lebron.
Is this the start of a new dynasty in the NBA that could finally squash the dominance of Kobe and his Lakers? Lebon James and Miami are certainly hoping so.
