Shane Watson has cleaned up at this year's Allan Border Medal awards by taking out not only the One Day Player of the Year, but also being named the Allan Border Medal winner, while Waton's opening partner Simon Katich took home the Test Player of the Year.

Watson who has been plagued with injuries through his career finally made it into the team after Phil Hughes was dropped for the third test of the last Ashes series. Since then Watson has been in form and scoring runs consistently while taking wickets.

Watson was near tears as he accepted the award.

"It's been an awesome ride and it's very overwhelming actually to receive this award," Watson said.

Not to take things too seriously, Watson went onto thank Cricket Australia's medical staff, for all their hard work!
