Type of Game: A sneaky, first-person, back-stabbing marathon, where no pompadour is safe from your blade.
The Lowdown: In a twisted, neo-classical, steampunk city, your character is framed for the murder of the Empress, and your goal is revenge. The fine, mo’-twirling world feels like a retro, water-colored version of Deus-Ex: Human Revolution, where every obstacle has various ways to tackle them. Stealth and trickery serve as your best resources, but your blade is great for the occasional desire to stab foes in the neck. The supernatural powers you earn are hilariously wicked, where sending a plague of rats at your enemy, scooting across the room in a blink of an eye, and possessing bodies will have you’ll laughing like a deluded villain. There’s plenty of stabby action if you go asking for trouble, but the wrong approach can cause more problems than posting a terrible anti-Muslim film on Youtube.

Zoo Says: Player choice and the arty, renaissance-style graphics puts this game in a league of its own. One of the best of the year.
9/10
