The Plot

A retired gunslinger John Marston, you’re blackmailed by the ruthless Pinkerton Detective Agency (kinda like an early FBI before Mulder and Scully introduced back ‘n’ sides) into tracking down your old partner-in-crime as he makes a run for it across the Mid-West plains.

The Gameplay

Set against huge open-world environs, the panoramic vistas of the American West come to life as you traverse rocky mountain rangers, dusty saloons and one-horse towns, “warping” between locales as you take on new missions. Aside from the ultra-realistic horse-riding, there’s also an entire ecosystem of wild animals and savage critters you’re free to slaughter. Yay!

The Baddies

As well as a host of unsavoury outlaws you can either track down, scalp or press-gang into your posse, the main guy you’re after is your ex-gang buddy Bill Williamson. And you can bet your bottom dollar, pardner, he ain’t goin’ quietly.

The Weaponry!

There’s an arsenal of period-era blunder busses at your disposal – from six-shooter Smith & Wessons, bolt-action rifles, shotties, Bowie knives, dynamite, lassos, and even Gatling guns. Boom!

Challenges!

Hunting down carriage robbers, stopping lynchings, poking whores, rustling cattle or even facing off at high noon, Marston has his dented copper plate full with diversions and side missions aplenty before closing in on his ultimate prey.
