'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2' is the highly successful follow-up to Infinity Ward's 'Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare', selling 4.7 million copies in its first 24 hours, making $3.10 million and beating the previous record held by Grand Theft Auto IV. And when something sells that well, you know it’s gonna be good.

Single-player sees MW2 starting 5 years after the conclusion of Modern Warfare, with the player controlling 5 different characters throughout the campaign with many of the old favourites returning from Modern Warfare, now part of an elite multinational commando team known only as Task Force 141. The whole campaign is built on teamwork, with a lot of the unplayable characters working alongside you throughout the beautifully rendered environments and plot twists. Locations range from Rio de Janeiro, Kazakhstan, Washington D.C and Siberia, to name a few, with crisp graphics bringing the levels to life. MW2 also breaks up the usual 'run and shoot' monotony, with tasks such as driving a snowmobile across the icy plains of Kazakhstan, motor boating through the desolate sands of Afghanistan or swimming through the Pacific Ocean. The plot itself is seriously fast-paced, jumping from one character and location to another, keeping the game play fresh and exciting.

However, this makes for a rather short campaign mode (I clocked 4 hours from start to finish) but this is made up by the diverse multiplayer mode. Now with more weapons, upgrades and events than Modern Warfare, multiplayer-mode throws the player into a gritty match involving Free-For-All, Search & Destroy, Demolition, Domination, Team Death match, and Capture The Flag. There is also a similar offline mode, Co-Operative mode, where the player can take time out from the multiplayer games or campaign to try their hand at time trials, which can lead to unlocking extra missions.

All in all, this game deserves all the hype it has received, and lives up to it gladly. Whether you're looking for an online grudge-match or simply want to save the world in campaign mode, you're going to get what you paid for. The plot is pretty intense along the way, but even if you're not drawn into it, there's still fun to be had by sending Predator Drone missiles into groups of unsuspecting enemies, as well as the occasional Taco-Bell knockoff.

For those dedicated COD fans, this is the cherry on top of an already sweet package, and wont leave you disappointed, and for those who are new to the world of Call Of Duty, you'll be thrown into the deep end with the huge levels, the complex plot and the constant action, which only serves to sweeten it all and get you hooked.

And for those who are overly sensitive and for the overprotective parents, yes, there is a level where you infiltrate a terrorist cell and kill innocent people. There is the option to skip this level, with no penalty held against you; the game simply informs you of the plot changes from that particular mission. But if you're going to find that kinda thing too intense, then you really should go play another game. Maybe some Mario, you pussy.
